homecoming weekend: return to rick's & the panchero's "ice wars"...
well it's been quite the weekend to say the least, the SNRE campfire was actually a lot of fun, and included damon and i acting as lumberjack's in a log-sawing contest, the PhD team (ours) winning the tug-of-war, and actual campfire songs (scary)! it was also fun to hang out with the SNRE crowd and some other friends outside of the usual school setting. studio 4 later that night proved to be a lot of fun and quite entertaining as well, along with more episodes of craziness involving a disturbing car ride and more insanity at panchero's. unfortunately i don't really have photo-documentation of any of that stuff, since i was just too lazy to use my camera that evening. oh well, maybe next time...or i'll just get someone else to take the pics.
saturday was pretty much crazy from start to finish, as mentioned earlier i found out that one of the 86'ers brothers was a former student of mine and so we met up and hung out for a little bit at the beginning of the day and at the end of the evening. good times. here's a pic of mike and me at rick's from that evening:
more on all of that story later, since it will probably require it's own entry (still absolutely crazy how that is all connected!!!)
i won't mention much about football other than we better get our act together (especially offense) by next weekend or my parents are going to get to see Michigan lose at the Big House when they come up for the Penn State game...oh, and i'll be pretty upset too.
that brings us to the outing to rick's and of course the panchero's follow-up. we hadn't gotten together at rick's for quite a while, so it was fun to go back...that and since it was homecoming we had to get there early to avoid the INSANE line that forms there. it was just four of us (AJ/hal/lindsey/me) who met up there, that and it would have been virtually impossible for anyone else to meet up with us any later since the line was huge and the wait would have been an eternity. either way, it was a lot of fun...probably the smallest group i had hung out with in quite a while (we have been doing a lot of big productions lately)...and a good time was had by all. i even ran into some other former students (that's always fun when you're out at a club, etc). i'll leave the shark bowl(s) and defending of the seats/table stories for when i talk to some of you in person, but rest assured there is some definite entertainment value to go along with all of that.
after we left rick's we went to backroom pizza because only hal and i wanted to get pancheros, and lindsey and AJ were content with the cheap pizza. we all then progressed to panchero's...i was definitely hungry by this time, and it wasn't nearly as packed as it was the previous day (yes, i was there 24 hours prior, but this isn't unusual if you know me). we took a booth on the far side of the restaurant and finished our food and started recapping on the entire evening. we must have all been making fun of each other (believe it or not) because something i said prompted lindsey to throw some ice cubes down the back of my shirt...retaliation wasn't immediate, but i believe it happened shortly thereafter. eventually hal was a target as well and i think at some point everyone was involved with ice cube projectiles and eventually water, all i know is hal and i were on a team and deemed 'indivisible' to which AJ responded that 'invincible' was more grammatically correct in this case (we liked indivisible). either way, we didn't get in trouble or kicked out (if i was banned from that restaurant i would probably just die) but we definitely pushed the envelope since i remember more than one trip back to the beverage area just to get more water and ice (aka ammo). ok, well i'll let the pictures and captions explain the rest. definitely a fun time, i'll add more pics and stories later (man, and i tried to keep this one short)!

i can't help but crack up when i see those pics! what a fun night. :) you HAVE to tell the seat-stealing story, though i don't think it's that funny unless you were there...
