not so much a 'crawl' as a juggernaut...
friday, 2.17.2006...the SPH 'canal street crawl'. hard to describe the experience, but it was an incredibly entertaining and insane time for sure. i'll probably just bullet most of the comments so i can get to all the pics (some of which will go into the online album, several of which will be posted here). either way, congrats should go to AJ for putting together (i'm sure with a little help from others, but she was the big boss in charge) the crawl and pulling it off so successfully! it was a great time and things ran quite smoothly considering it was a mobilization of more than 150 people through ann arbor on a frigid friday night!
those in our immediate party were myself, sarah, damon, sidney, and emily...although we met up with a lot of our SPH friends (and met a lot of new people) over the course of the crawl. the craziness started around 7pm, and didn't end until around 3-4am...good times for sure. the schedule included a start at BW3, then Scorekeepers, followed by ABC (which was cut out, but that turned out to be ok), and culminating at Club Oz (one of sarah's favorite A2 spots). in writing 'culminating' in that last sentence i thought of the assistant coach in the first American Pie movie, when he was repeating the head coach's speech at the end, and just repeats 'culmination' and some other random 'big' words. ok i digress.
we eventually flooded BW3, and most of the servers ended up with beads as well since they wanted to participate in the crawl. this also marked the 8th week in a row that damon and i have made an appearance here at some point during the weekend (we now know most of the staff).
more pics will be sent out via the yahoo album, so if you are interested in seeing them (there are a TON more) and don't get a link via email just let me know. i'll also continue to post some of them in the 'random pics' sections over the next several entries. once again, thanks to AJ for putting the whole thing together, and it was great to hang out with everyone that night! and now for some "real, actual work"...OR sleep. <:><

the wing eating contest (i didn't participate since i didn't want to get sick off BW3 food...perhaps another time...)
the crawl moves on to Scorekeepers...yes, there was A LOT of people. those participating in the crawl were recognized by the green shirts and/or beads (it was a mardis gras theme).
we took over the upper level at skeeps, but a lot of the main floor too. this is also where we developed the human ring (bead necklace) toss game.
beth, me, kara, drew...that group is definitely trouble.
around this time there was a scavenger hunt/trivia quiz going around that we worked on in teams...i ALMOST had drew give me the answers from kara/beth/julia's team (which was probably named 'capyba')
me, ly, (with vidya and julia just out of the frame)...i don't know how this shot was taken...
i did learn of a new way to do lemon drops though, that was fun.

me & rashmi at Oz
it was interesting at Oz since our group of friends continuously split up, regrouped, and dispersed again. i remember finding myself in groups of people of which i didnt know anyone at certain points over the course of the evening (of course, i ended up meeting a lot of new people this way, haha). we were somehow all able to leave in a loosely organized fashion, although we temporarily lost damon & emily, and sidney & sarah (both groups separately) before regrouping at the next stop.
panchero's was too far away, so we settled on NYPD for the 'after party'
when the group got split up into 3 smaller groups, it was funny in that i was giving directions to NYPD that were clearly wrong...even with the street signs right outside the building (and clearly visible). ah well...

Yay! I love the pics and I'm glad you had fun. It was a total blast and I'm glad everyone came. By the way, the pic of you and Sarah was taken by me at Skeeps - I missed the first shot so I raised the camera up high and took it again (you're not kneeling - gross!). And yeah, tons of people so I kept losing track of everyone! Good times. Now when are you going to wear your shirt???
