the heat is on in saigon...

whats with the title? well it was one of the main songs in the musical miss saigon...i have not yet seen the musical, but our marching band played it in high school. yes, i was in band...but rest assured i was not limited to just band, i did cross country, indoor/outdoor track, and managed to take all the nerd classes too. all that being said, i also played a pretty sweet instrument; arguably the coolest one...the (alto) saxophone. my roommate james would tend to agree (since he played as well), my sister sarah may also agree since that was the instrument she carried around in band (notice i didn't say anything about her skills actually playing it). regardless, the trumpets and trombones were just cocky brass punks, the French horns sounded like cows (think MOO), and i'm sorry clarinets and flutes, but you were just placeholders in formations out there on the field. yeah, the saxes were pretty freaking cool. mine is currently sitting in the garage, maybe i'll bust it out this weekend. right.

anyway, why saigon? well it's reference to my favorite chinese restaurant (Saigon Garden) in ann arbor...and believe me, i have been to plenty of them. this one is located on south forest near south U. definitely worth trying out if you have not been there. i always check to make sure i'm still a horse on the chinese zodiac while i'm there, and also enjoy the big fish mural/painting/mirror at the back of the room. oh, and the food is really good too (and they bring it out FAST). the plan is to go there tomorrow for lunch w/ andrea and brenda as i have been craving it for some time. does anyone else eat massive amounts of chinese food, get full, and then about 10 minutes later you're hungry again? ok maybe it's just me...or maybe it's just Indians (of course my sampling size is just me and my sisters, so i suppose the latter generalization is pretty weak. i'll have to ask the other two indians i know). so yeah, wanton soup, schezwan beef (spicy), and chicken fried rice here i come. i also get pretty cool fortunes from there as well, so that's a bonus.

i will also note that damon got his new phone today. what did he get? the black razr. yeah, same as me. i knew this was coming, but this should effectively seal the deal of making us twins...except for the whole race difference thing. then again, i figure i have grown up around only white people (immediate family excluded) just about my entire life so why not pick one to be my twin. apparently we have the same kind of jeans, but that developed independently. at least it's not as bad as my middle sister rachel...who apparently has the same kind of jeans as george costanza.

well i went running again today and definitely felt it this time. i asked for it by bumping up the pace and doing some minor intervals throughout the run...good times. i could almost hear coach potter yelling at the team in the background, and the good old mortal kombat music playing to get hyped up for a race. ok i'm relatively tired of writing now, so i will cut this mediocre excuse for an entry off right here. have a good night <:><

addendum: the song 'Hey Julie' by Fountains of Wayne is pretty cool. it's the song from the second episode of Scrubs with Mandy Moore. thanks to James for looking that up...definitely ate up a few minutes of real-actual-work time.

addendum II: Happy Birthday Kara! for those of you who lose valuable time reading this blog, kara was one of the main instigators of it's creation.
